Something to Chew On

I hate it when I get garlic stuck in my teeth. Unfortunately, this happens a lot since I like garlic and garlic happens to be something that's usually chopped up into small bits, scattered throughout whatever it is that I'm having. And whenever it gets stuck in my teeth, it's usually so small that I can't really get it out with my fingers or my tongue and so it stays there until I get a chance to brush my teeth or rinse my mouth. Ok here's the worst part, having it stuck in some crevice in your mouth is essentially like you're having a mint......except it's garlic. So instead of having the nice minty smell you get when you suck on a mint, you get a garlicky smell in your mouth. Basically, you'll smell (and taste) like garlic. And let me tell you, this taste doesn't go away for the longest time!! Brushing your teeth with toothpaste and rinsing with mouth wash helps, at first. But then the taste always returns (after about 5 minutes or sooner). I find that if I have something with garlic in it for dinner, the taste won't completely go away until the next morning.

My parents have the same garlic troubles. They avoid eating garlic the day before they have work, because they need to talk to people. They also can't smooch when they have garlic. Garlic is very delicious, unless it's on someone's breath. No complaints yet from my girlfriend about my garlic+spinach+tomato+(whatever other awesome stuff they put on it) pizza eating habits. Lucky me! :)
